Frequently Asked Questions
This section of our website helps to answer some of the most Frequently Asked Questions regarding vehicle and boat wraps. While this section addresses almost all of the common questions we typically get, if you don’t find the information you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to email us or give us a call.
What is a vehicle wrap?
Think of a vehicle wrap as a custom sticker applied to a surface like a new skin that can totally transform the look of the vehicle. Wraps allow us to transform cars and boats much like a new paint job would, turning something ordinary into something extraordinary. Our team has access to so many different types of vinyl and printing techniques, we are sure to find something that fits your style, needs, and budget. With today’s technology, what we are able to wrap is almost limitless.
How long does the process take?
The longest part of the process is the development of the design that will go on the vehicle. The length of this depends directly on how much direction you already have for your graphics. After the graphic stage is finalized and we enter production, it takes between 5 to 10 days to have the wrap fully installed, with only a day or two for the actual install.
Can the wrap be removed later?
Absolutely. The wrap is attached to the vehicle using heat and pressure-sensitive adhesives that can be reactivated by our installers.
Can you provide all the graphic designing?
We would love to provide your entire design! In fact, our graphic designers specialize in designing vehicle wraps. Our customers communicate to us what they want in their wrap and usually supply us with their logo and any other supporting images. In some cases, clients must purchase stock photos for their campaign. Then our designers create the graphics in a format that best fits the customer’s specific vehicle.
I live outside Louisiana, can Picture This still provide my wrap?
Yes, we can have meetings with you over the phone and all images and mockups would be provided to you via email for your approval. We have a network of installers set up across the U.S.
How long will the wrap stay on my vehicle?
Generally, a vehicle wrap can stay on between 5 to 7 years depending on how it’s treated.
Can I pressure wash my vehicle after the vinyl is installed?
PLEASE WAIT AT LEAST 3 WEEKS AFTER INSTALLATION BEFORE WASHING THE VEHICLE. We highly recommend you NOT pressure wash the vehicle after installation of the vinyl. Some pressure washers can potentially lift up the vinyl because of improper water pressure. It’s always best to hand wash vehicle wraps with a mild dish detergent like Dawn in order to get the most life out of them.
Can I take my vehicle through the car wash?
PLEASE WAIT AT LEAST 3 WEEKS AFTER INSTALLATION BEFORE WASHING THE VEHICLE. We recommend wraps to be hand washed with a mild dish detergent like Dawn to maintain life expectancy. Wraps can go through a car wash, but the longevity of the wrap may be compromised. High pressure washers and harsh chemicals should be avoided.
Do I have to wash my vehicle before installation?
Yes. All vehicles have to be free of dust, mud, pollen, and other agents that may slow down the installation process. Vehicles need to be cleaned and dried 24 hours prior to the installation.
Are vinyl wraps and paint protection film the same?
They are not. Paint protection films are normally clear and designed to withstand impacts to protect the vehicle’s paint finish. Vinyl wraps are made to change the appearance of whatever they’re applied to. Wraps do provide a protective layer over paint, shielding it from UV rays and harsh rains, but not necessarily wear and tear like rock chips.
Should I get a banner track/banner frame system or a wrap?
Banner track systems are ideal for completely flat surfaces that require regular display changes and can help save on production and installation expenses. Wraps are much more commonly used and generally a better fit for most medium surfaces, especially if regular graphic replacements are not required.
Do you wrap wheels?
We do NOT recommend wrapping wheels, especially for vehicles that will be driven on a daily basis. Because tires are so close to the road, they take a lot of abuse from flying debris and liquids that often causes the vinyl to fail. On very rare occasions, we will wrap wheels when we are already wrapping a vehicle, but we must see the wheels first in order to provide a quote.
Do you wrap helmets?
Some shops actually specialize in wrapping racing helmets, but Picture This Wraps and Graphics does not offer this as a service. The more curvature an element has, the more difficult and time-consuming it is to apply. Because of this, it takes time away from our primary focus of specialty and commercial wraps
How long do you need my vehicle for installation?
Installation normally takes between one and two days depending on how much coverage has to be applied.
Do wraps damage my paint?
No, not at all. In fact, a car wrap that is applied and removed correctly by a professional protects your paint job from minor scratches! The only way the paint on your vehicle could become damaged is if the paint was either already chipped/damaged upon installation of the wrap or if you applied a new coat of paint over the existing OEM paint.
How do you wrap the windows, and can I see out of them?
Printed Window Perforation Film, more commonly referred to as “window perf,” is used when a window needs to be covered but still seen out of. Window perf vinyl is produced by punching out approximately half of the material in a consistent pattern of holes. Graphics are printed on the front side and the adhesive backside is darker in color, allowing you to easily see out through the graphic but not in, much like a regular window tint. Custom printed window perf is generally our go-to for most window coverage options and can be used on both vehicles and store fronts.
How much does a wrap cost?
Every project has its own set of variables. Pricing is directly linked with square foot coverage, types of vinyl used, and the complication of the installation.

Do you wrap vehicle rooftops?
While we can certainly wrap any rooftop you wish to have covered, typically commercial roofs are never fully wrapped. We generally install a 10 inch strip above the windows to give the appearance the roof is covered. Color change wraps often include the rooftop, especially on lower vehicles where the roof is easily seen.
Do you do smaller custom jobs like boat registration numbers?

Do we laminate the vehicle wrap?
Yes. Laminating helps the durability and longevity of your vehicle wrap. Picture This Advertising laminates every vehicle wrap to make sure you get the most life out of it.
Why should I wrap my car vs. using vinyl lettering or painting it?
Having your car or truck wrapped allows for unlimited graphics and a very custom look for your vehicle. Paint decreases the value of your vehicle and vinyl lettering often leaves “shadows” when removed. Wrapping your vehicle on factory paint can actually protect the paint, and auto dealerships actually prefer their leased vehicles be wrapped.
What if my company logo or phone number changes in the future?
Picture This can print your logo, phone numbers, license or identification numbers, sponsors, etc. as overlays on the vinyl wrap, which can be removed and replaced as often as necessary.
Do I have to get a full wrap or do I have other options?
We are happy to work with your budget and review all options to ensure you get the most for your dollar. You can do a partial wrap or even wrap just your windows. We can even design wraps to start out with just window perforated material and then add onto it as your business grows to make the wrap complete.
What’s the difference between a ½, ¾, and full wrap?
A 1/2 Wrap includes the entire rear of the vehicle and 1/2 way up the sides of the vehicle, and includes a hood logo. 3/4 Wrap includes the entire rear of the vehicle and 3/4 way up the vehicle, and includes a hood logo. Full Wrap includes the entire surface of the vehicle with NO roof being wrapped.
Do you wrap over emblems or badges?
Vehicle emblems are normally removed in any case where a wrap will be applied. Removal techniques include heat guns, plastic razorblades, steamers, and fishing line. Emblem removals are included in the installation cost and are not an additional charge. Emblem removal must be done for a quality wrap installation because the vinyl cannot inlay in small, recessed areas well. We cannot promise the return of emblems because they break or melt during the removal process.
Who should get a commercial wrap?
Anyone who would like to increase their company’s brand awareness and has access to a vehicle that can be transformed into a mobile billboard! The most common purchasers of commercial wraps are businesses that are on the road often on service calls or deliveries. Service companies such as HVAC, plumbing, restoration, pressure washers, electrical, landscape, painters, roofers, and the like generally receive the highest return on their commercial wrap investment.
How durable are wraps?
For the most part, vinyl wraps are very durable. Most professional wraps have a 2 millimeter material with a 1.5 millimeter lamination overlay. When properly installed and cared for, they can withstand some pretty rough conditions and still come out looking great. Keep in mind that if the wrap is scratched with a sharp object like a tree branch, the vinyl may tear and bunch. Should this happen, your wrap can easily be repaired by our professionals with a heating torch. If needed, we can also do replacements of individual panels or small patch pieces to help fix damaged vinyl.
