How to Take Care of a Vinyl-Wrapped Car

Vinyl wraps have grown in popularity in recent years, and for good reason. They offer great durability, flexibility of design, and an unmatched ability to protect the paint on the body of the vehicle. Although some old-schoolers might prefer the classic look of a traditional paint job, vinyl wrapping is a good option to consider if you want to upgrade the look of your car in a cost-effective manner or use it to promote your business.

A high-quality vinyl wrap can last for more than seven to eight years but only if you take care of it properly.

In this blog, we are going to look at what you should do to take care of your vinyl-wrapped car and protect it from wear and tear.

How often should you wash a car wrap?

You should wash your car every week or once every two weeks to remove dust, debris, and other pollutants that might damage the wrap. Make sure you don’t wash it too frequently as that can cause the colors or the design of the wrap to break down prematurely.

Can you take your wrapped car to a drive-through car wash?

Although hand washing is the recommended method of cleaning a vinyl-wrapped vehicle, you can take it to an automated brushless car wash. Avoid brush car washes as they might cause the wrap to peel at the edges.

Spot cleaning

If you notice any stains on your car wrap, spot clean immediately. Use a simple solution of warm water and soap to get rid of stains, including bird droppings and tea sap. In case of more stubborn stains, you can use isopropyl rubbing alcohol diluted with distilled water.

Avoid using abrasive cleaners

One of the biggest threats to vinyl car wraps is harsh chemical cleaners. So, make sure you avoid using them while washing your car. Solvents, oil-based cleaners, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, and engine degreasers are a few of the things you should avoid.

What if you spill oil or gas on the wrap?

Gasoline is a solvent that can damage the wrap while oil can cause staining. So, if you spill oil or gas on your car wrap, clean it immediately with water.

Store your car under cover

Prolonged exposure to UV rays can also be harmful to your vinyl-wrapped car. To keep that from happening, store your car in a garage or under a shelter. If neither is available, look for a parking spot with plenty of shade.

Now that you know how to care for a vinyl-wrapped car, how about you give your vehicle a new look with a vinyl wrap?

Car wraps have a lot to offer on the table. They are an excellent way to not just spruce up the look of your vehicle but also promote your business. Moreover, when it comes to customization options, they offer more variety and better quality than an expensive paint job.
